HISTORY
Cheshire cheese is the oldest made cheese in the United Kingdom and was first produced by the Romans in the Garrison Town of Chester. The salt deposits beneath the soil of the Cheshire Plain, give a special flavour to the soil and pasture, and hence to the milk, creating a distinctive flavour.
Ancient Bread is prepared in the traditional hand made method , and using a time-honoured recipe, which includes cereals dating back to 15,000BC – spelt, emmer and einkorn, the bread is produced in a local traditional bake house on Wirral. It is not gluten free, but does help people with wheat intolerance.
